ICS-HYI Doctoral Fellowship in China Studies for 2019

Saloni Sharma is pursuing her Ph.D. from BITS Pilani, Goa in the Chinese Environment. She has completed her Master of Arts in Chinese language and literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She was awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in 2014 to study South Asian Politics, Comparative Law and Political Theory at the University of Trieste, Italy. In 2017, she attended summer school at Tsinghua University, Beijing to explore her research interests in environment, gender and development studies. She completed her Young India Fellowship in 2019. She has published poems and articles in India and internationally. Other than the Chinese language, Saloni has also learned Dutch and Italian. 
 
Shanky Chandra is pursuing his Ph.D. from the Centre of Chinese and Southeast Asian Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has completed his M.Phil from the same center and his dissertation topic was " Prem Chand & Lu Xun: A Comparative Analysis of Two Great Contemporaries, 1918-1936". His Ph.D. thesis titled "Socio-Political And Cultural Factors In The Making Of Chinese Science Fiction Writer Liu Cixin: Understanding "The Three-Body Problem".
