Rekha J
Research Intern

Rekha J holds an M.A. in International Relations and Politics from the School of International Relations and Politics, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, and a B.A. in Political Science. She is a Virtual Research Intern at the Institute of Chinese Studies. She previously worked as a Project Fellow at the Korea Centre for a year. Her research interests include East Asia, the broader Indo-Pacific region, and gender studies. A passionate language learner, Rekha is currently studying Korean and Mandarin to enhance her understanding of the regions she researches.

Manashjyoti Karjee
Research Intern

Manashjyoti Karjee is a researcher in Security & Society at the Advanced Studies Institute of Asia. He holds an M.A. in International Relations and Area Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia and a B.A. in Political Science from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. With a strong focus on security-related issues and a keen interest in China, he has published extensively in his field and continues to contribute to academic and policy-oriented publications.

Mahek is a Research Intern at the Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi and a third-year student of the Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore. As a multidisciplinary student of political science, social sciences, and international relations, her research interests include surveillance in China, comparative gender studies in India and China, and international perception of Chinese culture. Her hobbies include public speaking and world literature. Harsh Joshi
Research Intern

Harsh Joshi is a Research Intern at the Institute of Chinese Studies and a second-year student at IIM Indore, currently pursuing the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). With a multidisciplinary academic foundation in economics, political science, and international relations, Harsh’s research interests lie at the intersection of global supply chains, international diplomacy, and the evolving language of commerce. He is particularly intrigued by China's strategic role in reshaping global trade networks and its diplomatic engagements in Asia and beyond. Through his work at the Institute, Harsh aims to contribute to nuanced understandings of China’s economic statecraft and its implications for emerging economies.

Govind
Research Intern

Govind is a Research Intern at Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi and is currently pursuing Integrated Programme in Management at IIM Indore. During the course of his undergraduate programme, he has completed courses on statistics, linear algebra, political theory, internal relations, economics and ethics. He has also undertaken academic research projects that employ both qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Govind’s primary research interests include, inter alia, the role of media in geopolitical narrative framing, elections and voting behaviour, and gender biases in workplaces. Recently, his research proposal titled ‘The Power of Choice: Exploring the Link Between Personal Agency and Voting Frequency’ was also accepted for undergraduate poster presentation at Midwest Political Science Association’s (MPSA) Annual Conference.

Noel Mathew Cherian
Research Intern

Noel Mathew Cherian is a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a B.A. (Hons.) in International Relations at the Capital Centre, Central University of Kerala. His academic interests lie in strategic and geopolitical studies, with a particular focus on India’s measures to counter China’s expanding influence in the Bay of Bengal and the wider Indian Ocean region. Noel focuses on the economic conflicts and diplomatic engagements that shape the complex India-China dynamic. Through his academic work, he aims to explore how regional power plays and maritime strategy influence broader patterns in Indo-Pacific security and international diplomacy. He is a passionate MUNner and has enriched himself on the geopolitical affairs and developed his public speaking interest through these MUNs. He has a deep passion and commitment to research.

Atul B Shankar is a third-year undergraduate student pursuing his BA (Hons.) in International Relations at the Capital Centre, Central University of Kerala. He has a keen interest in Chinese language, culture, history and geopolitics. His research focuses on analyzing China’s projected demographic decline—stemming from decades of the stringent One Child Policy—and its implications for India, including potential strategic and economic opportunities.
