Upasana Ghosh joined ICS as a virtual research intern on October 1, 2021. She has completed her Post-Graduation in Political Science (Hons.) from Presidency University, Kolkata. Currently, she is pursuing diploma course in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Shastri Institute of Governance and Leadership (erstwhile Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership), Delhi and foreign language course in Mandarin from The School of Languages, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture (Kolkata).She is interested in questions of foreign policy, diplomacy, geopolitics and geostrategic issues, with regard to rise of China, East Asian regional politics and challenges to the existing global order. Previously, she has interned with Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (former Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis). She was associated with the Military Affairs Centre and her role as a research intern involved research and writing on emerging threat issues towards India’s national and international security and providing assistance to management of assigned projects for the Centre as well as the institute’s round table discussions and other seminars. At the Institute of Chinese Studies she is pursuing her research on Global China and her ambitions with a particular focus on Xi Jinping’s foreign and Security Policies.
