Abstract

The presentation will focus on Mao Zedong's military thinking and its relevance in the present context. It delves into the historical settings in which Mao's military thinking took shape and highlights the content and theoretical basis of his ideas on military strategy and warfare. The study essentially underscores the Marxist-Leninist character of Mao's thinking on military affairs and warfare and attempts to highlight possible future areas of research on this subject.   

About the Speaker

Dr. Prashant Kumar Singh is an Associate Fellow at the Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA). He holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and has worked on the impact of nationalism in China's foreign policy in 1990s, multilateralism and China's security concerns in the Post-Cold War period, and China’s stakes in the ASEAN Regional Forum and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
