Ladakh Diary: Why India needs to improve infrastructure along the LAC

18 Mar 2015
Mr. Nitin A. Gokhale, well-known commentator on national security affairs, author and media trainer
Venue: ICS Seminar Room
Time: 3:00 PM

Abstract

Ladakhis living along the Line of Actual Control or LAC, with China, have to battle the harsh weather almost through the year. In addition, government neglect and apathy has left them bereft of even the basic facilities. While for decades, they have braved this neglect, there is increased restlessness. Some of the sections in the region are openly asking, about the incentive for them to stay with India. Although such voices are still in the minority, it is important to heed the warning signals. The presentation while highlighting the poor or non-existent infrastructure along the LAC, will also focus on the issues and needs of the local population.
