Institute of Chinese Studies Welcomes New Batch of Virtual Interns

ICS is glad to announce its second batch of Virtual Interns!

Launched in April 2020, the ICS Virtual Internship Programme is a two-month internship programme (may be extended, if necessary) focused on nurturing young researchers who may not be able to come to Delhi, but wish to connect with the Institute through the internet, email and other online channels, to pursue projects or short assignments related to China. It provides opportunities to individuals from various disciplines such as Political Science, History, Sociology etc. to pursue their research interests and hone their research skills while working under the guidance of Mentors who are experts in their own fields.

Our first batch of April 2020 consisted of seven interns who came from various universities across the country such as IIM-Indore, CHRIST University, University of Mumbai and O.P Jindal Global University. They worked on topics such as BRI, China's Malacca Dilemma, the role of China in the global supply chains etc. under the guidance of experts such as Amb. Shyam Saran, Amb. Vijay Nambiar, Amb. Kishan S. Rana, Prof. Amita Batra, Mr. Ravi Bhoothalingam, Mr. Santosh Pai and Amb. Ashok K. Kantha. The mentors closely followed their progress and assisted them in successfully completing the tasks assigned, including publications.

From analyzing the Belt and Road Initiative and Made in China 2025 in the aftermath of COVID - 19 pandemic and understanding China's economic engagement in the Persian Gulf region, our second batch of July 2020 virtual interns delve into a vast array of issues surrounding China's domestic and foreign affairs. They come from various institutions such as the Sciences Po, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Pondicherry University, Presidency University and the University of Delhi. They will be conducting their research under the guidance of Mentors such as Amb. Kishan S. Rana, Amb. Vijay Nambiar, Mr. Santosh Pai, Dr. Raviprasad Narayan, Dr. Prabir De and Dr. Veda Vaidyanathan.

ICS is grateful to the Mentors as well as the participating universities for their association with the Institute through the programme.
