Wonchibeni Patton is a Research Intern at the Institute of Chinese Studies. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in International Studies from Christ University, Bengaluru. She completed her B.A. with triple majors in Economics, Political Science and Sociology from Christ University, Bengaluru.
 
 
Wonchibeni is currently working on a research project titled "Implications of the Cross-Strait Diplomatic Race in the South Pacific Region" (working title) and wishes to analyse the various dimensions of the evolving cross-strait relations with respect to the Pacific Island Countries (PICs).



Democratisation in Oceania and its Impact on China’s Influence on the Region

The People's Republic of China (PRC) is the third-largest aid donor to the South Pacific region. There are 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) in the region, excluding Australia and New Zealand.

Areas of interest

Her areas of interest include Chinese Foreign Policy, Sino-Indian relations, Sino-Pacific relations, Cross-Strait relations, South Pacific Region, Diplomacy and Comparative Studies. She is also interested in looking at China's role in global political issues, human rights, climate change, gender and security issues in the South Pacific region.
