Mathew Thongminlal is a Research Intern at the Institute of Chinese Studies and a doctoral scholar at the Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He holds a master's degree in the Department of East Asian Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Delhi, New Delhi, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from St. Edmund's College, Shillong, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). His research interests include China's promotion of ethnic culture in Yunnan, cross-border ethnic groups' connections, borderlands studies, and China's policy towards Myanmar and ethnic armed groups in Myanmar.
