Events > Wednesday Seminars
The global energy system is undergoing rapid transformation and reshaping strategic relations across Asia. This Wednesday Seminar presentation will analyse the impact of the transformation on India and China. The study identifies three significant changes in the global energy ecosystem, viz, the rise of India and China as the world’s largest energy consumers, the race to renewables and Chinese monopoly over critical raw materials and the emergence of the US as a significant exporter of crude oil. The presentation addresses questions regarding the rise of China and India as energy competitors in the region, and the impact that this competition has had on their bilateral ties. Specifically, it looks at how the scramble between the two countries for control over energy resources and trade routes in the region has shaped the regional order in Asia.
