Events > Wednesday Seminars
As two representative civilisations in Eastern culture, China and India share more than 2,000 years of cultural exchanges, profoundly enriching and developing the world’s cultural landscapes. The dissemination and acceptance of Lu Xun in India began in 1930 and now spans nearly a century. This process has promoted greater cultural exchanges and friendly interactions between China and India in modern times. Research on Lu Xun in India is an important component of the dissemination of Lu Xun overseas, and many Chinese scholars are paying close attention to it. This seminar aims to trace the historical context of Lu Xun’s dissemination and acceptance in India, and its key characteristics, motivations and obstacles. It would also analyse the cross-cultural communication laws behind India’s acceptance and interpretation of Lu Xun. In this way, Lu Xun’s deep spiritual and cultural values in the international perspective of cross-cultural communication can be understood. At the same time, the seminar encourages reflection on how face-to-face exchanges can be facilitated between Chinese and Indian scholars through research on Lu Xun to enhance mutual trust and understanding about each other's culture and society.
