ALPANA VERMA

Alpana Verma is a PhD scholar in Chinese Studies at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi. The title of her dissertation is, “The Internet in China: Online Expression and Its Political and Social Consequences”. She has done her MPhil in Chinese Studies from the same department, in 2011. She has worked on a project on Higher Education in China organized by the Institute of Chinese Studies in 2015. She has published a Research Report, ‘The Internet in China: An Emerging Society’, in the book, “Inside China: New Leadership, Social Changes and Economic Challenges”, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, 2013. She attended the Summer School Program from 22 June - 6 July in 2013, at the John Hopkins Center for American Studies, Nanjing University, Nanjing, PRC. Her areas of interest are the role of media in China with a focus on Social Media.
